Donna (Wartena) Yohanan was born to Ernestine and Donald Wartena on 11/11/37, in Memphis, Tennessee. She is sister to Beverly (Jim) Mullen. Donna grew up in Grosse Pointe Michigan and attended the Covent of the Sacred Heart, St. Anthony's and Central Catholic in Fort Lauderdale Florida.  She graduated from Pine Crest Preparatory School before attending Garland Junior College in Boston.

 

Donna married George Francis deClaire in 1958 and had six sons, George Jr, Roger, Christopher, Paul, Marc and Michael deClaire. After 19 years of marriage, Donna and George divorced.  A few years later, Donna married Sam Yohanan in Fort Lauderdale Florida.  They traveled the world together by cruising to new and exciting places for the 37 years they were married.   

 

Donna was a skilled bridge player and had several long time bridge companions in Boca Raton, the Coral Ridge Country and Yacht Club in Fort Lauderdale. She was also involved with the Children's Opportunity Group and was generous to needy families. 

 

On the afternoon of 3/3/15, in the comfort of her home and surrounded by family members, Donna passed away.  She had an aggressive form of liver cancer.   Donna was cremated and her celebration of Life Mass was held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.   Numerous friends and all of her family members were in attendance.
