Denise deClaire, the eldest of Robert deClaire's 5 children, was born on January 20, 1953, and grew up in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan.

 

In 1976 she graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing. Denise moved to Boston after graduation. She held positions in several Harvard-affiliated hospitals. Her areas of specialization included trauma surgery, Invitro Fertilization, Neuro-Otology, and Neonatal Intensive Care. In the 1990s, she functioned as Clinical Liaison for the area's Asian community healthcare center. Denise currently works for the Department of Reconstructive Surgery at Duke University Hospital. She lives in Durham, North Carolina.
