    Carlos Ludovicus "Louis" Decleire

Biography

Louis was born in September 1800 in Boezinge, West Flanders, Belgium.[1] He was the son of Ivo Lodewijk De Cleire and Genoveva Catharina Ramout. He passed away after 1870 in Detroit, Michigan. He is listed on the 1870 census in Detroit, Michigan, however in 1880 his third wife Elizabeth is a widow living with her four children in Detroit.[2

Louis was married three times.[3] He married first Virginie Natalia Lyneel on 5 October 1830 in Woumen (Belgium). They had two children Rosalia Juliana Decleyre (1831-1896) and Ludovicus Josephus Decleyre who died an infant in 1833. Virginie also died in 1833, apparently in childbirth.

Louis married second Victoria Bailleul on 12 July 1834 in Woumen (Belgium). They had children:

  1. Eduardus Decleyre (1835- bef 1854)

  2. Hector A De Cleyre

  3. Pelagia Octavia Decleyre )ca 1837-1842)

  4. Henricus DECLEYRE-DECLEIRE (1839-1840)

  5. Virginie DECLEYRE-DECLEIRE-DECLEIR (1840-1842)

  6. Alexis De Cleyre (b 1843, Belgium)

  7. Theodorus (Theodore) Franciscus Decleyre 1844-

  8. Pelagia Octavia Decleyre (1845-bef 1860?)

  9. Henry Declair (1848-4 May 1895)[4]

  10. Karel Lodewijk (Charles) Decleyre 1849-

  11. Emeliana DECLEYRE (c 1854-bef 1860?)


Louis married third Elizabeth van Erp on 1 October 1855 at Détroit, Ste-Anne, Michigan.[5] Elizabeth was born 11 June 1827 in Hoogeloon, Noord-Brabant, Nederland. She was the daughter of Cornelis van Erp and Maria Catharina Willemss.[6] They had children:

  1. Edward De Cleyre (b 1858, Michigan)

  2. Mary Ann Decleyre (2 February 1859-23 May 1923)[7]

  3. William J Declaire (1866-1910)

  4. Louis Declair (c 1870)
