Henri Louis deClaire

Henri Louis deClaire was born on July 18, 1847 in Belgium. In 1854, at age 7, Henri traveled by ship with his father Louis, mother Victoria from Belgium to New York and then to Detroit Michigan. Henri married Zolange Louisa Daigle who was from Detroit. Henri worked as a confectioner at the Gray, Toynton and Fox Candy factory in Detroit Michigan and as a ships carpenter at the Detroit Boat Yard. Henri is believed to have died from intestinal cancer, lung cancer from the Detroit Boat Yard and inhaling hot sugar from the candy factory. He died May 4, 1895 at the age of 47.
